My sound effect this week was created to be in a scene of intense stress to the point of being about to crack. I was asked if I could create the sound for a short film a friend was working on, and I gave it a shot. It didn’t end up being used, but I’m hoping it will find a home in a film someday.
I created it with very little effects processing. Honestly, an EQ to boost the lows was really the only effect I put on it. It is a recording I had of a construction site and if I remember right, it was a large drill powering up. What I did for this sound was pan it left and right to give a sense of unbalance, often felt during a very heated stressful moment, and put a shorter higher version of the same sound dead center ticking almost like a clock or a time bomb. I hope this gave you a little inspiration for a sound of your own, and I’m interested in other opinions on the sound.
